John-Joseph Bennett est un chirurgien et naturaliste

Étudiant au Middlesex hospital. 1825,
Ami de John Edward Gray (Botaniste). Il l'a assisté, avec son frère Edward, dans la préparation de la partie systématique de Natural Arrangment of British Plants de S. F. Gray. Le genre Bennettia de Gray leur a été dédié, mais a été supplanté par Saussurea de Candolle.
